My name is Bibiana Ruzickova, I am a freelance photographer based in Slovakia.
I have started with photography about 4 years ago, when I bought my first DSLR camera – canon 450d. Taking first pictures I realized how huge is my passion for photography. During the years I have involved, learned many techniques – using online tutorials, books, magazines etc. One could say I am self tought photographer but I did take a course in Czech Republic – at school Photogenia. It helped me to understand the technicalities behind photography – how the camera works, what is apperture ,iso and so on.
I keep on learning and trying new techniques every day as there is still so much to learn, explore and I am always eager to improve my skills and push my limits. I consider myself to be mainly portrait photographer, mainly shooting woman as their beauty fascinates me the most. But I love to do fine art and fashion photography as well. Whenever I need to really relax, get out of the stressful hectic world , I try to make a conceptual shooting . Something like levitation photography, which has been one of my top favorite style ( kind) of pictures. Did try it 2 times so far but I have several project in the near future where I want to explore this type of photography bit more and create interesting levitation photos.
The keywords for my style would be : sensual, colorful , fairy-tale, vintage, soft, beauty, saturated. I always prepare thoroughly for my projects. First the idea – write down all notes, each thought, idea, try to make visuals- pictures, eventhough I am not that good at drawing . Then I go location scouting. Prefer shooting outside , where I can work with the surrounding environement. These kind of photos have deeper atmosphere. Then i try to work with fashion designer, creative makeup artists in order to come up with great photo project. Each detail is important. There are so many talented people around us, one just has to look and don’t be shy to ask for cooperation. As my immagination gets more and more crazy, from time to time I create the props myself. Such as headpeaces – made from flowers, leaves, paper… But it is not so common, I rather leave this to the professionals .
90 percent of the images I create are with natural light. If the conditions on location force me to use low aperture and slow shutter speed, I just take out my tripod , to be safe the pictures come out sharp. In interior I tend to user artificial light from time to time – simple set up with one light ( canon speedlite 680ex ) and an umbrella or octabox. I prefer the octabox – light comes softer more “naturally” looking . When I save enough money, I will buy professional study light , as this is the one area where I do have knowledge gaps.
What inspires me in my work is the world itself .When I go for a walk,I try to have my eyes open and absorb the beauty of simple things( like window, candle, one colorful leave lying on the grass), nature, people around me.The world is one big ocean of inspiration!Of course there are photographers that inspire my as well. So many of them. The top 5 are ( for me ) Miss Aniela, Kirsty Mitchel ( she is a genius! ) , Brooke Shaden, Anka Zhuravleva, Emily Soto. Each one has different style, but they are all very close to me.
In postprocess I try follow the same steps, to achieve nice sharp colorful picture. But I do try new post process techniques so the style of my pictures is not always the same. In big projects I do photo compositions, meaning I take several pictures from particular shooting and put them all together ( composite them ) in photoshop. This technique takes a bit time, but the final result is worth it. The tools I use regularly are curves, selective color, gradient, color balance. I also like to play around with blending modes .
In my future work I am going to focus on conceptual / fine art photography and fashion photography. So stay tuned, hope you will like the next projects .At the end I’d love to thank every person that helped me during my career, each model, model agency, make up artist, fashion designer, friends and family!. Appreciate all your support. If I may name few incredible lovely people it would be Stanislava Hudcovska – great friend and amazingly creative make up artist , Kristina Steis – another close friend and very talented model. Other talented makeup artists such as Patricia Semanova , Rea make-up ( reavizaz.sk ) and Veronika Vargova . Fashion designers – Petra Prsova, Viera Futakova, Jana Jurcenko, Petra Kubikova, Veronika Kostkova. THANK YOU ALL!!!
