A photographic artist, Kathy Corday’s motto is, “Magic happens in the blink of an eye.” As a former Walt Disney Imagineer and current PBS talent, Ms. Corday’s camera is an extension of her soul. Capturing those special moments to be found within a split-second, her photography savors the splendor of natural wonders, revels in the magic of man-made artifacts, and celebrates the insatiable essence of the human spirit.
Through the lens, she invites us to see as she does, from a perspective of love and compassion for people, places, and things. Be they alive or inanimate, Kathy Corday hears their voices as they call to her to be noticed. She chooses not to blink, rather to listen with her heart, to illuminate inherent beauty, to stretch time, and to expand our understanding of our society and ourselves.
GRAY SERIES
Ms. Corday’s Gray Series is her stylistic meditation of the human form and the society in which it exists. Composed of images created from locations around the globe, nearly every image within the portfolio can be rotated on axis to create an entirely new aesthetic. Voted as one of the Top Ten Portfolios of Emerging Artists by Emerging Focus at Photo LA 2013, a selection of these images have recently been included in the Women in Photography International Charter Member Archive at the Berneke Library at Yale University. In addition, Gray No. 1 – Icon, and Gray No. 2- Lintel have received honorable mentions in the professionals category from the International Photography Awards sponsored by the Lucie
Foundation. The goal of Kathy Corday’s Gray Series is to awaken our soul, and to dare us to delve beyond our initial impressions. To use her words, “In our shadows, we are all the same…”
