Since its inception in 2004, the Head On Photo Awards have been a crucial platform for photographers worldwide, helping them create, exhibit, and inspire. With over $850,000 awarded in cash and prizes over the years, these awards have established themselves as a prestigious international competition.
The Head On Photo Awards 2024 are now open for entries, offering photographers of all levels the opportunity to participate in a global competition. Submissions will close on August 18 at 11:59 pm (Sydney time). The entry fee is AUD$30 per photo, with discounts available for Head On Premium Account holders and participants under the age of 25.
Competition Categories
This year, the awards are divided into three main categories:
- Portrait: Focused on capturing the essence of a person or group of people.
- Landscape: Open to broad interpretations of natural, urban, or industrial landscapes.
- Exposure: A new category that allows for greater creative freedom, accepting works of any genre, style, technique, or medium.
Judging Process and Prizes
The judging process is conducted without revealing the artists’ names, ensuring equal opportunities for all participants. Winners will share a prize pool of $80,000, including cash and products. Each category will have one overall winner and two runners-up, along with 100 finalists and 200 semi-finalists in total.
Exhibition and Recognition
The works of the finalists will be exhibited both in print and online during the Head On Photo Festival 2024. Additionally, they will be included in the hardcover catalog of the Head On Photo Awards 2024. This recognition not only provides visibility to photographers but also offers opportunities to establish meaningful connections within the photographic community.
