Varanasi, the spiritual capital of India lies on the left bank of the River Ganga, the city has been an important centre of Hindu devotion, pilgrimage. Now the city has caught a new look after the renovation of old aged Viswanath Temple.
The city is no doubt vibrant with its colours and smell, particularly Varanasi Street art at public places. Street art always tend to convey a direct message, gives an idea about the place and it is true for Varanasi, mostly with religious tones having figures of Gods with some abstract artworks. The vibrant street art of Varanasi has infused life into the age old walls. The essence of Varanasi is captured in these paintings. Varanasi’s street art depicts the ancient saga and genesis of this ancient city, the motivation for which can be traced to the characters and teachings of Hindu mythological stories. The local wall art has pervaded life into these historic walls and gives a perfect glimpse into the culture and heritage of one of the oldest living cities in the world It gives another dimension when the street people were included with these wall arts. Here all wall arts were photographed in the alleys near the Viswanath Temple.
About Kaushik Dolui
Born in Howrah, West Bengal, India but currently Kaushik Dolui is working and living in Kolkata, He was graduated and completed Master Degree in Economics from Calcutta University . In his childhood days ,he did the drawing and painting, later in his mid-twenties he developed an interest in photography and completed some photography courses. Kaushik Dolui participated in different photographic salons under FIAP and PSA patronages and won many awards/acceptances over the time and it is still continuing and received Excellence FIAP Honors from Federation de l’Art Photographique in 2009 .
