Beauty lies in the eye of the beholder and we are able to perceive it in every instant, place, space and time. But Beauty gains depth when it has the ability to touch us.
By this I don’t refer to the perfect beauty that is curated and staged, but the beauty that is hidden and animated. Like, for example, old places with a story.
This is how this photo project “Vobrocars” was created. The two brothers Sascha and Yannick Vogel run a classic car garage and a secondhand vintage furniture store in an old factory from the turn of the century. The 2nd basement of the factory is gloomy, dusty, dirty. And yet beautiful. Together with my team we told a timeless story about love, beauty, serenity and discord with vintage clothing, exquisite leather pieces by Ùna Burke London and fine Suits by Eniline. I shot all arount the environment that surrounds the subject, suggesting a story, sometimes a memory of it.
The Vobrocar series talks about the relationship of the two brothers and their shared passion for finding the Beauty in old things. They keep the classic cars very curated, the vintage furniture shop is run in the same place. The single pieces, there are many, are keep with lots of love and attention. But there is this kind of imperfection of the old. There are stains, cracks, wrinkles. I sensed a feeling of peace in this place. Where used Beauty and Imperfection are loved. It felt sacred and eternal.
I’ve found in this place a very peculiar sense of connection. The proudness of the brothers, the bond with this place, the strong relationship they have with the matter, with the earth, with these things and the love for life permeates everything. You can feel it in the second you enter the store.
The series has an various color palette, all spanning through the tones of the old factory in harmony with the clothes, styles and exquisites leather pieces by Ùna Burke London. Walls, dust, elevators, stairs, cars, furniture, stones and soil, with the shop goods, the shadows and the lights, even the smells are in the palette that wraps all the images of the series. Over time I’ve become more and more passionate about telling a story through pictures.
The hugeness and the mood, the vibration, the feelings and the passion shared with a supportive Team of other artists and the interaction with the camera and the subject, all these things are captivating for me. I express myself through these pictures. It gives me that precious sense of deep rootness with my inner self. These are the things I have experienced through this shooting and which I want to tell in my works. My thanks for this series goes to Vobrocars, Ùna Burke Leather London, Eniline, Saskia, Anja and Pascal, Simona De Berardinis for Silisstars, Pit for Royalscissors, Natacha Tirza Makeup.
