I make candid street photos, simplifying the chaotic mess of life with a sense of beauty, to bring out some mystery and order.

Observing people and their way of life while traveling is indeed an intriguing experience. In the case of Kyrgyzstan, the country boasts a well-organized public transportation system, with an extensive network of private minibuses and regular buses, bus stops often offer a fascinating cross-section of society, where individuals from different backgrounds and walks of life converge.

The dominant religion is Islam, which can be seen in the way women dress. The society is a mix of several ethnic groups 74.1% Kyrgyz, 14.8% Uzbeks, 5.0% Russian .My attention was focused on the observation of women, their lifestyle, their place in society.

As you focused on observing women, it is worth mentioning that Kyrgyz women play a vital role in the fabric of society. They are actively involved in various aspects of life, including education, politics, and the workforce. In recent years, there has been an increasing emphasis on empowering women and promoting gender equality in the country. This is reflected in the growing number of women occupying leadership positions and actively participating in social and economic development initiatives.

Kyrgyzstan offers a unique blend of modernity and tradition, where women have the opportunity to embrace their cultural heritage while also engaging with contemporary lifestyles and pursuits.

About Anna Biret

Anna Biret was born in Soviet Poland, where she found her calling in spatial perception and geometric patterns in architecture. After finishing her studies in architecture, she moved to Paris, where she has lived ever since.

She discovered street photography in November 2018, during a workshop by Maciej Dakowicz in Myanmar. It was the first spark that ignited a whole series of trips. When she goes out in the street with her camera, she has no precise idea of what she is going to photograph. A priori, everything interests her; ordinary scenes, details, light, colors, shapes, and especially people inspire her.

She respects people; she doesn’t want to attack them. She never uses flash. Her presence is accepted, why she doesn’t know. She adapts to the scene, trying to keep natural expressions. She does candid street photography, simplifying the chaotic mess of life with a sense of beauty, to bring out a bit of mystery. She likes to capture those moments that make every moment beautiful in everyday life.[Official Website]
